Stop by on your way down Vineyard Drive to experience something unique, progressive and delicious. Our distinctive and sustainable wine growing practices make for a wine tasting event you will not soon forget.
Established in 1996, Oso Libre, meaning “Free Bear” in Spanish represents our blended family names and the spirit of the early California pioneers. Family owned and operated, the vineyards and winery are located on our 90-acre working ranch within the Paso Robles AVA, situated in the acclaimed Adelaida region. Our vineyards are deeply rooted in rugged calcareous (limestone) hills exposed to sunshine and ocean influenced air consistently producing complex fruit.
Oso Libre produces award-winning, artisanal wines from our estate and locally grown premium grapes. Utilizing varietals that thrive in the westside Paso Robles area ensures wine quality as well as sustainability. We strive to represent the terroir of each vineyard to ensure those special qualities are presented in the resulting wine. Our estate labels include limited production wines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Mourvedre labeled as traditional single varietals as well as distinctive red blends and rare late harvest dessert wines.
Preserving our environment, we proudly utilize sustainable agricultural practices and renewable energy strategies. Oso Libre was certified Sustainable in Practice (SIP) by the Central Coast Vineyard Team in 2010. Olde English Babydoll sheep, grass fed Black Angus and free range chickens all work together to tend our vine rows and graze land. The wind and sun supply over 100% of our electricity for our winery. We conserve energy by proudly utilizing our progressive Wind Energy Conversion Facility (WECF) or windmill, solar panels and our electric all – terrain vehicles.
