Founded in 1981, we named Wild Horse Winery &Vineyards after the mustangs that once roamed the hills east of the vineyard estate. The mustangs represent the free and noble spirit that embodies our winemaking and our wines. We source our Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the best vineyards throughout California’s Central Coast—from Santa Barbara to Monterey. We harvest individual lots of the same variety from many different terroirs and ferment them separately. Then we carefully blend the individual lots into extremely complex, yet harmonious, wines. Throughout our history, we have been relentless in our desire to learn and have experimented with new growing and winemaking methods. This has led to a program of small-lot experimentation and the production of a number of rare varieties such as Malvasia Bianca, Verdelho and Blaufrankisch. You can find our winery and estate vineyards in Templeton, California—the halfway point between Los Angeles and San Francisco along Highway 101, just south of Paso Robles. This is the heart of California’s Central Coast.
