Home to 2011’s Wine Industry Persons of the Year: Owners Marc Goldberg & Maggie D’Ambrosia are dedicated to producing exclusively Pinot Noir. The 15-acre vineyard on the Westside is dedicated to growing and producing 100% Estate, Burgundian-style Pinot Noir. The vineyard was planted in 1990 in a highly select area of the Westside of the Paso Robles Appellation where the limestone soil and cool microclimate provide all of the required elements for growing exceptional Pinot Noir wine grapes. They handle the fruit in the Burgundian style of a “Monopole” where the total viticulture and vinification processes are both under the control of Windward Vineyard.

Marc and Maggie are striving to put Paso Robles’ Pinot Noir back on the map, following in the footsteps of two pioneers in this area’s wine history. In the late 60’s the famous wine expert Andre chelistcheff was a consultant to Dr. Stan Hoffman in the planting and production of his Hoffman Mountain Ranch wines.

The Pinot Noir wines that were produced in the 70’s brought worldwide attention to Paso Robles as a winemaking and wine growing area for the first time. These wines are still drinking well today if you are lucky enough to find a bottle in someone’s cellar.

Windward Vineyard stays focused on their goal of producing a great American, Burgundian styled Pinot Noir and they have received worldwide recognition for their efforts.
